Riso Kit is a Raufan's weekends project. A tool I needed for the love of printing, especially Risograph color and textures.
Hello
I'm Raufan— a designer, film photographer, and an ex-front-end engineer living in Tokyo, Japan.
I love to build small tools for the things I need or just simply for fun. Riso Kit is the one I'm proudest of so far.
Why this exists
I reach for riso aesthetics because they carry warmth and physicality that screens normally strip out. Ink soaking unevenly into paper, edges that aren't clean, slight misregistrations between layers. That imperfection is the appeal.
I was imagining what if I have a tool that can help me to get that aesthetics where I can put it into a UI components. That's Riso Kit's intention is.
What's next
A few things on the road:
- Dev panel — click any element in your running app, apply a riso treatment, copy the snippet back into your codebase.
npm install riso-kit— a React library so the playground's primitives drop straight into your app.- More image editing optimisation — More paper type, textures, and risograph color template to support image editing.
